2nd Annual Plein Air Event 2009
Plein air, a French word, literally translates as 'open air', and is defined as painting or drawing done outside, in the open air. Over 100 years ago, artists made the move from the studio, to painting outdoors en plein air. Artists sketched the landscape in paint to bring forth its full light and color. These works are taken directly from nature, and infused with a feeling of the open air. Today’s plein air painters have mastered the art of capturing the changing light on a scene. Bold, painterly strokes and luminous colors define the brilliance of the artists at the second annual FRESH PAINT-- Catiri’s Art Oasis’s Plein Air Festival in Amana, Iowa. FRESH PAINT---A live interpretation of Iowa through the eyes of artists, in the beautiful surroundings of the Amana Colonies. This is an educational experience of seeing the art in process, as well as the appreciation of Iowa through the eyes of the artist capturing the moment.

Amana Artisans' 8th Annual Studio Tour 2009
September 18th, 19th from 10am to 5pm and 20th from 12 to 5pm.

Enjoy a beautiful fall driving tour of the seven villages of Amana and visit artist's studios along the way. 10 Amana artist open their studio doors for this 3 day event. Interact with the working artist, see how & where their creations are being made. This is a great family event!

Catiri’s Art Oasis is excited to bring back Gordon Kellenberger for the 4th Annual Oktoberfest Show. Nothing brings in the joys of fall, more than a whole room of Kellenberger’s brilliant, vibrating work!! This year Gordon will also be demonstrating. You don’t miss this show! This show opens October 2nd, with Gordon's demo & reception from 5pm to 8pm. This show will exhibit until the end of October, or as long as the work last. Be sure to come early to get a good choice of Kellenberger's new work!

Oktoberfest 2009
October 2nd - 4th. This is one of Amana's favorite & most festive events! Check the Amana Colonies website for the full list of events. Catiri's Art Oasis will have demostrations by various artist throughout the weekend and will have extended hours, open until 8pm Friday & Saturday.

Pre-Lude to Christmas 2009
December 4th -6th. Take part in the special magic of an old-fashioned Amana Colonies Christmas. Shop on candlelit streets in the village of Amana, tour the Tannenbaum Forest, see the Gingerbread Village & visit the Amana Church Cookie Walk. There is nothing quite like it and it will keep you coming back each year. Catiri's Art Oasis will be open until 8pm Friday & Saturday and will have a glass ornaments making demostration taking place in Catiri's Glass Studio.
