Catiri's Art Oasis was established in 2001 by Jenise and Ithiel Catiri. The gallery is located right in Main Amana on 220th Trail next to all of the other shops and it has become a staple of Amana Colonies over the years. The gallery features over 100 artist in multiple mediums and they are all from Iowa and the surrounding states creating a truly magical oasis or art! The gallery often host many solo shows throughout the year and really tries to connect people with the artist! We feel that when people know the story about the artist or the inspiration for the piece that they like it will make them feel more special about their purchase and will create a good feeling for everyone! We try very hard to have the most inclusive and friendly atmosphere, customer satisfaction is the most important aspect of what we do!
In their free time Jenise and Ithiel enjoy spending time with their family, cats and being creative! Jenise enjoys working with fused glass and creating jewelry when she has time and Ithiel enjoys rocks and nature! They are avid travelers and love to see the world and welcome new experiences with open arms. You will often hear music from all over the world in the gallery because it makes them feel good about sharing other cultures! |
Every year during Labor Day Weekend the gallery host Catiri's Art Oasis - Iowa Plein Air featuring over 40 painters from all parts of Iowa and throughout the United States to paint the picturesque Amana Colonies! Artists paint from sun up to even into the darkness of night to create beautiful pieces to share at the conclusion of the weekend on Sunday evening. It combines the strengths of the talented artisans of the Midwest with Iowa's incredible scenery to produce the most collaborative and comprehensive event in the region. “We are creating a modern-day regionalism,” explained Jenise Catiri. Each year has grown to be bigger and better, with artists painting in various mediums with various degrees of talents and with many of them being nationally known and collected. Many of the artist rush at the opportunity to paint the scenery that the famous Grant Wood painted throughout his career and it is truly a blessing that we are able to put this event on annually! The Golden Brush Awards party is Sunday evening and it consist of being able to view/purchase all of the paintings for the weekend, dinner, live music by world famous, Iowa born jazz musician Catfish Keith and much more!
