Lush with vegetation in night scenes, at the water's edge. underwater, on the forest floor, or even a Victorian tablecloth, my paintings are often described as enchanting, mysterious, tranquil and fresh; paintings that make you feel good. My watercolors are inspired by my environment. They reflect my love for nature; the flora, fauna, peacefulness and serenity I find. my unique style is a non-traditional, intuitive use of watercolor, allowing me to express my perceptions of nature with bright, vivd colors. I re-create nature in a subjective manner accentuating the patterns, designs and colors, in harmonious repetition.
I earned a BFA in Painting from the University of Iowa in 1981, and also studied at the University of Montana and Kirkwood Community college. Much of my work has also been published in literary journals and magazines as well as by Pomegranate Publications of California in the the form of Calendars and cards. When I'm not painting or with family and friends, I have my camera in hand in my garden, on hikes or travels looking for subject matter for my next piece. My work is currently available as original paintings, limited edition lithograph and giclee prints as well as note cards! |
